TAYLOR ROCK PROJECT - WA

COMMODITIES
GOLD, NICKEL & Lithium

The Taylor Rock tenement (E63/2058) is located on the under explored far south eastern margin of the Archaean Lake Johnston greenstone belt. The Lake Johnston greenstone belt is a narrow, north-northwest trending belt, approximately 110km in length. It is located near the south margin of the Yilgarn Craton, midway between the southern ends of the Norseman-Wiluna and the Forrestania-Southern Cross greenstone belts.

The area is notable for its proximity to other nickel mines and concentrators, but has also seen very recent excitment with several lithium discoveries on adjacent properties.

Investigation of drill hole logs has shown significant intersections of pegmatites in several of the historic holes.  These holes were not assayed at the time, presumably as they were not considered prospective for nickel sulphides.

The directors have also been impressed by the nickel potential up and down dip from the previous intersections drilled by Norilsk. Vertex is planning a future exploration program for Taylor Rock that will include work to assess the lithium, nickel, and gold potential of the project.

Historic Work

The discovery of magmatic nickel sulphides in a high-MgO ultramafic package at the Eliza May Prospect has drastically upgraded the prospectivity of the project and prompted Norilsk to drill 7 additional RC holes during 2012-2013 period. Significant assays include:
  • LJPR0084: 3m @ 0.65%Ni from 15m
  • LJPA0145: 3m @ 9.84g/t Au from 42m, including 1m @45.4g/t Au from 44m
  • LJPA0528: 6m @ 0.42% Ni from 15m
  • 10NLJC0132: 37m @ 0.48% Ni from 205m including 17m at 0.68% Ni from 205m and 1m at 1.02% Ni from 212m.
  • 12NLJC0005: 10m @ 0.58% Ni from 200m including 2m @ 0.80% Ni from 202m
  • 12NLJC0004:      4m @ 0.58% Ni from 248m including 2m @ 0.64% Ni from 250m.
