Welcome to Vertex Minerals

Vertex Minerals Limited (ASX: VTX) is an Australian-based gold exploration company.  At the core of our mission is the drive to create value for our stakeholders and communities.  We aim to achieve this through mineral discovery, development, and production.

We are committed to the discovery and development of the next generation of multi-million-ounce gold deposits within the NSW and WA goldfields.  To this end, the Company’s main objectives are:

completion of infill and extensional drilling at the Hargraves Project and the Red Hill and Hawkins Hill mines (which partly comprise the Hill End Project) targeting resource expansions while increasing the definition of higher grade domains;

complete metallurgical beneficiation testing to be conducted in parallel with assessment of direct shipping ore opportunities to increase overall project scale;

systematic exploration at the Pride of Elvire and Taylors Rock Projects to deliver a maiden JORC resource;

focus on mineral exploration and other resource opportunities that have the potential to deliver resource growth for our Shareholders;

and  continue to pursue other acquisitions that have a strategic fit for the Company.

We’re focussed on becoming a mining company through a journey of discovery and development of our portfolio of assets into safe, profitable and sustainable operations.

HILL END GOLD PROJECT (NSW)

The Hill End and Hargraves Gold Projects presents an enviromentally sustainable gold mining opportunity.  The challenge of green gold is much more than just achieving commercial gold production without the use of cyanide.  It encompasses all aspects of gold production to ensure that value creation is not only ethical but environmentally sustainable.  The vision of Vertex Minerals is the commercial production of gold from the Hill End Project that embraces:

  • The deportment of gold at the Hill End Project allows high recovery of gold to a concentrate using gravity separation that does not require chemical solvents.
  • Vertex owns a permitted processing plant at Hill End located on granted Mining Licenses.
  • The use of directly smelting gold concentrates eliminates the need to use cyanide.

ENVIRONMENTALLY

SUSTAINABLE

The vision of Vertex Minerals is the commercial production of gold from the Hill End Project. Vertex is uniquely positioned to achieve this aim with an environmenal footprint that will make it an industry leader.

Geology

The gold at Hill End and Hargraves is associated with quartz veins. It is often visible in core samples and is considered a coarse size. Typically it is greater than 0.1mm in size. The goldfield has a reputation for producing large gold nuggets.

Energy Consumption and Sources

The coarse liberation size means that less energy is required to crush and grind Hill End ore compared to most gold mining operations. This is significant in the overall power consumption for the project. The company is also investigating the use of renewable energy sources to further offset the impacts of the mine.

Processing Technologies

The coarse nature of the gold means that high recovery can be achieved using gravity separation. These techniques take advantage of the contrast in density between gold (ρ=19.3) and quartz (ρ=2.6) to achieve separation.

Gravity separation allows more than 90% of the gold to be concentrated into a very small proportion of the total ore mass. This concentrate can then be directly smelted to produce high purity gold bar. These methods means that gold can be produced without the use of cyanide.

Waste Management

Gold is liberated from quartz at relatively coarse grind sizes, with recoveries of greater than 90% achievable at a grind size of 100 micron (this is quite coarse). This means that processing residue is a sand and it does not contain any chemical residue. It is suitable for commercial use in concrete and other building products. The company is presently investigating markets for this material, which is likely to be significant in the reduction of environmental impacts..
